"Bloome, You"

"Bloome, You" is an original oil painting I worked on slowly from 2022 through 2024. To me, this painting represents solace and healing after I experienced a long chain of traumatic events from loss of friends to injury to loss of love and sexual assault.
When I began painting it, I knew that I wanted to create something that made me feel like me again in a period of time where I completely lost myself. While I was painting it, I gave myself the time and space to think about all that had happened and how it all made me feel. So, in many ways, this painting was my therapy. Some days while I worked on it, I would let my brain and body finally let go of the swirling thoughts in my head, and I could find just a few hours of true peace.
I had no idea what this painting would look like when I began, but I knew that it would be vibrant and colorful and when it was finished I would just know. It is finished now, and with it, I feel a stronger connection with myself, and a lot of optimism for the vibrant life ahead of me.
